Acupuncture

What is it?

Acupuncture is an ancient science that taps into the body’s own natural healing abilities, promoting recovery, relaxation, rejuvenation, balance and wellbeing. It is part of the system of Traditional East Asian Medicine, which originated in China and was established in Japan more than 1,500 years ago.

Acupuncture is a holistic therapy - the whole health of each patient is assessed, then the underlying cause of imbalance is identified and treated.

What is Japanese Toyohari acupuncture?

Toyohari is a very dynamic and powerful, yet gentle, style of treatment. It was born out of the meridian therapy school in Japan and was originally developed for blind practitioners. Various tools may be used throughout a session to balance the ‘ki’ (the Japanese term for chi) including needles made from various metals, moxibustion and cupping. Needles often touch the skin but are not inserted. Toyohari can be beneficial for everyone and is highly suitable for those patients who are sensitive or very depleted, as well as babies and children.
