Anthroposophic Medicine

What is it?

Anthroposophic Medicine was created in the 1920's by Rudolf Steiner and Ita Wegman to complement conventional medicine. Registered medical doctors and nurses undertake additional training to be able to use these techniques in their practices.

Anthroposophic medical care involves a range of therapies offered by health professionals with different specialisations. It is also used in a variety of care settings -  in European hospitals and medical practices - for acute and chronic care. What unites the techniques is a set of diagnostic frameworks that aim to understand the health of the whole patient - body, mind and spirit. Instead of treating symptoms alone, the therapies are designed to support the patient’s own healing capacities, known as “salutogenesis”.
